Title: I Built a 15amp Jetter for my Plumbing Business and Here’s What Happened
As a plumber, owning the right tools is essential for providing quality service to your clients. There are several tools a plumber must-have, such as wrenches, pliers, augers, snakes, and water-jetting machines. A water-jetting machine is perhaps the most crucial tool for a plumber, as it helps in cleaning out blocked drainages and sewer lines. It is for this reason that I took the initiative to build a 15amp jetter for my plumbing business. In this article, I will share my experience of building and using the 15amp jetter.
I had to research and study various water-jetting machines’ designs before settling on one that I felt would be perfect for my plumbing business. After months of studying blueprints and consulting with fellow plumbing professionals, I finally came up with a design. A 15amp jetter was what I wanted, as it would provide enough pressure and flow to clear any blockages in sewer lines.

The first thing I did was gather all the parts needed to build the 15amp jetter. I opted for the vertical pump, which has an electric motor attached to it, and a 3-way valve. In addition, I got a 15amp electrical cord, a pressure regulator, a nozzle kit, and a high-pressure hose. All of these parts can be purchased at any local home improvement store or online. However, I had to get a few parts custom-made as I couldn’t find them in the local stores.
The next thing I did was build the frame that would hold all the parts. I used steel tubing for the frame, and I had to weld the pieces together. The frame was built to hold the motor and pump vertically, as this design is the most common in water-jetting machines.
Once the frame was complete, I then had to install the motor and pump onto the frame. This was a two-person job as the motor and pump were quite heavy. After securing the motor and pump onto the frame, I then connected the 3-way valve and electrical cord to the motor.

The high-pressure hose was then connected to the pump outlet, and the nozzle kit was connected to the end of the hose. Finally, the pressure regulator was attached to the pump inlet to adjust the machine’s water pressure.
Now that I had finished building the 15amp jetter, it was time to test it out. Fortunately, I didn’t have to wait long before a client called about a blocked sewer line. The client lived in a neighborhood that was notorious for tree root problems in the sewer lines. This would be the ultimate test of my newly built machine.
I arrived at the client’s property, ready to test out my 15amp jetter. First, I set up the machine’s frame and inserted the hose into the inspection opening of the sewer line. I then turned on the machine’s power and let it warm up for a few minutes while I adjusted the pressure regulator to set the water pressure.
I then turned the 3-way valve to send water to the nozzle kit, which was now air-tight inside the sewer line. The nozzle then sends a high-pressure stream of water into the sewer line to clear any blockages.
In no time at all, the 15amp jetter cleared out a massive amount of tree roots that had clogged up the sewer line. I was surprised at how efficient the machine was, and the client was pleased with my work. Since that day, my 15amp jetter has been a valuable tool in my plumbing business.
In conclusion, building a 15amp jetter for your plumbing business is a great idea if you want to provide top-quality service to your clients. It may take a while to research, gather parts, and build, but the effort is worth it. The process allows you to customize your water-jetting machine to your preference and needs, and the outcome is a reliable and efficient machine that tackles any sewer line blockage. Building my 15amp jetter was an enriching experience that has significantly improved my plumbing services.
